As we enter into “summer mode”, this whole idea of slowing down to reflect and learn rings true for me. I finally feel like I can take a deep breath, listen, learn and reflect on all that has happened in the last few months. And friends, I am beyond excited for what is to come.

This beautiful month of July has so many good things in store and I’d love to share just a few of the things I am looking forward to this month:

Family Time.

As you’re all very aware, we’ve been navigating this global pandy for more than a year now, and I’ve been spent more time at home with my core four over the last 365 days than I have in the last 10 years combined. And somehow we’re all still alive and no one was throat punched. Quite the opposite really. This whole staying at home thing has made me realize just how much these four humans mean to me and how much I cherish my time with them. So, even if the plan this summer is to camp and “have fun” while getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, I’m going to soak up every minute connecting and reconnecting with this little team of mine. Afterall, we’re just here making fuckin’ memories, friends.

A Damn Vacation

Raise your hand if you’re ready for a damn vacation?! Like anywhere?! The pandemic has helped me to realize the importance of stepping away and taking time for yourself. A vacation doesn’t have to mean booking a fancy hotel (although I wouldn’t object!) – it can simply mean taking a day off work and giving yourself the freedom to do whatever you please in your own space! I know, I know, we’ve been at home for a long time now, but remember self care and taking a step back is important to recharge, no matter how you do it. Bonus points if you take a week 😉

Reconnecting with my mind, body and soul.

My new friend Colby, and owner of Ascend Mountain Yoga, has reminded me how important it is to reconnect with your mind, body and soul. She recently joined me on a Sunday Night Live and spoke about how critical connecting to your breath is; your brain is connected to it and so is your energy. This lit a fire under my ass and reinforced that this whole idea of spirituality is something I could pay closer attention to. In June I committed, and have successfully finished, a one month cleanse to rebalance, rehydrate, and detox which included starting every morning with green juice and fueling my body with appropriate food. Friends, I have to tell you…I feel friggin’ amazing!!! And that’s not even the crazy part. In August, Team Jody is set to join Colby on a three day Helicopter yoga retreat that scares the crap out of me, but also makes me fairly confident that our lives will be forever changed by this experience. Stay tuned for details!

Reading, Learning, Growing

This is going to be a summer of learning for me. I can just feel it. I want to hold space for Indigenous communities and continue learning about their heritage, celebrations and culture. I want to have conversations with my kids and share with them the knowledge that I’ve gained. We can’t address what we don’t acknowledge and our job as the next generation is to listen, learn, acknowledge, and never stop teaching our children about history. Creative, inspiring, painful, growth, humility, and healing. I am looking forward to it all.

Yellowstone Season 4

If you know me, you know after a long day of working with this incredible community to create a reconnection revolution, there’s nothing I love more than melting into the couch with my husband, a good glass of wine, and Yellowstone! But seriously, I discovered this show during lockdown and I couldn’t stop watching it. Episodes were binged, I stayed up WAY too late, and I’ve been patiently (anxiously) waiting for season 4 to premiere sometime in July. If you haven’t tuned in yet, go get yourself a bottle of Sandhill Rose and buckle up.

The world can feel heavy at times. Remember to find the joy in the journey and make it a priority this month to make space for things that fill your cup. Things you can look forward to. Maybe it’s sitting in your backyard with a good book, a glass of wine with a friend you haven’t seen in awhile, or a night frolicking in the woods with your family. Cherish it all, my friends. I promise you’ll be glad you did.Xo.
